Welcome to the
metropolitan Women's Democratic club
The Metropolitan Women’s Democratic Club (MWDC) was organized in March, 1960. MWDC supports and espouses the tenants of the Democratic Party and is engaged in every level of the Democratic structure. Always in the forefront of political action, the women of MWDC understand that only through continued activities and participation can goals be realized and achieved. Since its inception, MWDC has had a strong, recognizable voice in the community. It has grown in presence and leadership, and its members have been inspired and empowered through the women on whose shoulders they stand.
The mission of MWDC is to encourage full participation of women in the Metropolitan Washington area, to unite as members of the Democratic party, to encourage full participation of women in the political process; and, to support the programs and policies of the Democratic party.
The Women of MWDC work closely with local elected officials, local and national party leaders and members of civic associations and community organizations. Members are engaged in a wide variety of activities through monthly meetings, civic engagement, legislative forums, Women in Blue Advocacy Day, voter registration drives, Statehood Civil Resistance and participation in local and national women’s rights drives.
The Metropolitan Women's Democratic Club is a member of the DC Federation of Democratic Women, National Federation of Democratic Women and The Democratic State Committee.
